The following benefits are based upon the current 2023-2026 contract.
Shifts
7:00am to 3:00 p.m. - Dayshift
3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. - Afternoons
11:00 p.m. to 7:00 am - Nightshift
Officers work a rotating 6 days on and 3 days off schedule (1950 hours annually).
Along with 10 Patrol Officers, the Department has a School Liaison Officer, a Detective, three Shift Lieutenants, a Deputy Chief, and the Chief of Police. We also have a records clerk and an administrative assistant.
Starting pay for a patrol officer is currently $27.99/hr, with top pay of $36.94/hr after 5 years. (Under current contract.)
Employees accumulate 12 sick days per year, paid vacation, 11 paid holidays, employer/employee paid retirement under the WI State System, paid health insurance, compensatory time, income continuation, and deferred compensation.
Employees also receive a yearly uniform allowance, and longevity bonuses after 5 years of employment.
No residency requirement.
Lateral Transfer for Wages and Vacation
The Waupun Police Department no longer requires applicants to be eligible for Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board Certification and is willing to sponsor motivated individuals who meets the other requirements.
