Department Description
The Public Works department provides essential services to the City of Waupun in a prompt, courteous, safe, efficient and cost-effective manner. Public Works, through its dedicated employees, strives to plan, design, build, maintain, and operate public infrastructure (including streets, parks, buildings, storm sewer systems and equipment), in a manner that respects the environment and the ability of government to adequately preserve these assets for succeeding generations.
Description of Services
The Department of Public Works is responsible for the care and maintenance of the following:
- 45+ miles of streets
- City storm sewer system, including 2600 storm sewer pipes, 650 storm sewer manholes, and 1396 storm sewer inlets.
- 17 public parks (including aquatic center, baseball / softball diamonds, and neighborhood parks – more than 76 acres of park land)
- Maintenance of Municipal Buildings and parking lots
- 310 pieces of automotive and /or maintenance equipment
- Engineering Plans
- Closed Landfills
- Curb & Gutter and public sidewalk
- Walk / Bike Paths located throughout the City
- 2440+ street signs and posts
