Waupun Utilities Operations Update
Water and sewer improvements are scheduled for Walker Street. The upgrades include replacement of 3 hydrants, 3 water valves, and 4 sewer manholes. Existing 6 inch water main will be replaced with 8 inch water main, along with new sewer main. A contractor will paint hydrants in Fond du Lac County. Plastic colored rings will then be placed on the hydrant nozzle to display the fire flow rating of each hydrant.
Hydrant flushing will take place during July and August. Check out www.waupunutilities.com, for details and to view the flushing schedule as it evolves. System maintenance is a required and effective way to keep things operating at peak efficiency for system use, and available for fire protection in the event of an emergency.
An electric voltage conversion continues along the southwest corridor of the city. The upgraded voltage increases system capacity for future growth. The voltage conversion will allow for the higher voltage necessary to acquire Area 3 Alliant infrastructure as defined in the Master Territorial Agreement. Crews will work on an underground line rebuild from Brandon Street to the east. In addition, the crew will do backyard line work in the Doty Street, Reids Drive and Carrington Street areas.
Please use caution and watch out for any work crew and construction vehicles. Despite safety precautions and equipment, working very close to moving traffic is dangerous business. Be aware of your surroundings and practice safe driving. Our crews thank you.
