Mayor's Community Update - 06/27/2018
Greetings! On Friday, June 29, we kick start festival season with Celebrate Waupun at Tanner Park. This is our annual free festival that features music, a kidzone, carnival rides, great food and more. This festival is a community celebration of all the great things happening in Waupun – both past and present. New this year, festival goers will enjoy Hispanofest. We’re also working with our tourism partner, Destination Lake Winnebago Region, to offer free trolley tours of the city’s sculptures. There is a lot of history in and around Waupun and I hope you take advantage of this opportunity to learn more about the amazing legacy Clarence Shaler to our community.
Also new this year is the REACH Waupun Rally & Run 5K event. Participants in this run/walk will travel through some of the most scenic areas of Waupun. Celebrate Waupun runs through Sunday, July 2, and ends with our annual 4th of July fireworks display. A full schedule of events can be found on my Facebook page as well as on line at Waupun Festivals website.
Next up, Waupun Fine Arts, Inc.’s will host their annual Music in the Park concert series. The event will be held each Thursday in July from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Dodge Park. The rain venue for this event is the Waupun Community Center on Spring Street. The July 5 concert features The Del Rays, playing the greatest hits from the 50’s, 60’s, and 70’s. Bring your lawn chairs and/or blanket and enjoy free entertainment. Concessions will be served and a good will offering will be accepted. The Waupun Fine Arts group is dedicated to promoting and supporting local artists of yesterday, today and tomorrow. I hope to see you there!
See you around town! ~ Mayor Julie Nickel
