Mayor's Community Update - 05/14/2018

Greetings! At our May meeting, the council approved two bids for work that will be happening over the summer. First, if you’ve been past the aquatic center, you may have noticed an area to the north of the pool that is staked off. The city worked with Fond du Lac County government over the past year and they approved the addition of a parking lot that will handle overflow parking for the pool. Depending on weather, that lot should be paved in May and be ready for the summer season. We are very appreciative of Fond du Lac County’s support and commitment to enrich the county park as a true asset for Waupun! The second project that was approved was for the mill and overlay construction of West Franklin Street. That project will commence in late June or early July, depending on weather. The other road construction project that will be done this year is Walker Street and that project is scheduled to begin in late May / early June, again depending on weather.

City staff continues to evaluate damage caused by heavy rains. We have declared a local disaster and have begun an application to seek funding to make needed repairs to public infrastructure that may have been damaged. If you have flooding damage from last week’s rain fall, please contact City Hall at 920.324.7900 for further information and resources.

Around town, the Spring Yard Waste pickup runs until Friday, May 18. The city-wide rummage sale is scheduled for Saturday, May 19. A special Waupun City-Wide Rummage Sale Facebook page has been created where you can post your sale information or plan your stops for the day. Details for things happening around the community can be found on the community tab of the city’s website.

See you around town!! ~ Mayor Julie Nickel
