Mayor's Community Update - 04/30/2018

Greetings! This week we’re sharing some important information regarding Waupun Area School District’s (WASD) search for a new District Administrator. The Board of Education for WASD has begun its work to find a replacement for Dr. Tonya Olson, the current District Administrator. Olson submitted her resignation on March 26, after serving the District well for six years. Olson accepted a principal's position for the Belleville School District. I’d like to encourage you to participate in this important process by sharing your thoughts on school district priorities by completing a community survey. The survey link can be found on the District’s website at www.waupun.k12.wi.us. The survey is open until May 14, 2018. Additionally, a community input session will be held on May 7 and members of the community are invited to participate in open community focus groups to provide input. Members of the public may select to attend at either 4:45 p.m., at Rock River Intermediate School, in the school library, or at 7 p.m. at Waupun Jr./Sr. High School, in the Large Group Instruction (LGI) Room. The Waupun Board of Education selected School Exec Connect (SEC) to assist with the recruitment and selection process. Information about the district administrator search process will be updated on the website. The Board anticipates that a new district administrator will be selected by July 1, 2018.

The Spring Yard Waste pickup is being delayed one additional week. Pickup will begin on Monday, April 30, and end on Friday, May 18. Around town, a Spring Concert and Benefit for the Christian Home will be held on Sunday, May 6, 2 p.m. at First Reformed Church. All Waupun area children between kindergarten and 12th grade are encouraged to audition for the spring Missoula Children’s Theatre production of “The Little Mermaid” that begins on Monday, May 7, at 4 p.m. Full details can be found on the community calendar on the city’s website.

See you around town!! ~ Mayor Julie Nickel
