Mayor's Community Update - 03/26/2018
Greetings! This week we welcome a new business to Waupun as Heritage Ridge Travel Plaza opens at the intersection of US 151 and State Highway 26. The business is operated by Eden Meats & Catering. As a business, Eden Meats has been in existence for 125 years. Under current ownership, Eden Meats has expanded to include convenience stores, restaurants and catering operations. We are excited to have a quality, family-run operation like Eden Meats & Catering invest in Waupun. Yet to open is the adjacent Wild Goose Café. When fully open in the near future, the business will include a restaurant, catering operation, convenience store and will be truckfriendly. Developing this parcel of land has been a goal for some time. The development creates another modern entry point to our great city, expands our tax base, creates jobs and fosters additional opportunity for development. Welcome Eden Meats & Catering to Waupun!
If you have not traveled past the old Meadow View Primary School on Young Street, the building is currently being demolished to pave the way for redevelopment. Staff is currently working with several developers to work on redevelopment of the site. We will share more information as it becomes available.
Around town, V.F.W. Bentley-Hull Post 6709 is hosting a gathering on Thursday, March 29, from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m. in honor of National Vietnam War Veterans Day. The event will be held at Waupun Historical Society’s McKinley Street building. On Saturday, March 31, the Waupun Rotary Club invites everyone to participate in the 2018 Easter Egg Hunt. This is an annual event that features a special visit from the Easter bunny and is held at Tanner Park. I hope to see you there!
