2020 Waupun Holiday Help Program Offers Help to Families in Need
2020 Waupun Holiday Help Program Offers Help to Families in Need
Each year, thanks to the generosity of area churches, businesses, and individuals, Waupun Holiday Help provides holiday gifts to approximately 70 families in need. This year is no different, however, due to COVID-19 we are seeing increased need and have had to adapt our approach. Waupun Holiday Help is currently seeking individuals or groups who wish to adopt of family to help spread Christmas cheer to those families in need.
How Can I Get Holiday Help?
The Waupun Holiday Help program is supported by area civic groups, the Waupun Area School District, and generous individuals who work together to provide gifts and food to those families living in the Waupun area who need help during the holiday season. Families who choose to take advantage of the service of the Holiday Help program will receive a gift certificate for groceries. Due to the COVID pandemic that we are experiencing, a change is being made to the method that you receive gifts for your children. We ask that you fill out the additional page included with the application listing specific items for your child(ren) ages 16 and under. Pick up of gifts is scheduled for Saturday, December 12th. Watch for a post card in the mail during the week of December 6th that will give the details of gift pickup.
Please note that applications need to be completed and returned no later than Tuesday, December 1, 2020.
If you have any questions regarding the Waupun Holiday Help program, please contact Terri Crisp at National Exchange Bank, 920-324-5551.
How Can I Give Holiday Help?
Waupun Holiday Help is now accepting applications and donations to help the Waupun Area School District families in need this Christmas. Holiday Help needs your help! The COVID pandemic has forced us to make some changes to the way the Holiday Help program will be administered this year. We are still looking to receive monetary donations, but are also looking for organizations, families, or individuals who might be willing to “adopt” a family. Rather than randomly distributing gifts at the city hall, we’re asking you to shop for specific children.
You can help by making donations of money and gift items. Money may be donated for Waupun Holiday Help by mailing it to Holiday Help, PO Box 151, Waupun, WI 53963 or it may be brought to National Exchange Bank of Waupun. If writing a check, please make it payable to Holiday Help. Donations of hats, mittens, scarves, and socks may also be dropped off at the National Exchange Bank. All donations must be made no later than December 8th.
If there is someone you or your group would like to refer to the Holiday Help Program, please submit their name(s) to Terri Crisp or Jessica Buchholz at National Exchange Bank (324-5551) or suggest that they pick up an application at the National Exchange Bank, Waupun City Hall, or the Waupun Food Pantry. Spanish versions of the application are available in school offices and also at the National Exchange Bank, City Hall, and Food Pantry. Completed applications need to be dropped off at National Exchange Bank or mailed to Holiday Help, PO Box 151, Waupun, 53963. Applications must be submitted no later than December 1st.
Holiday Help distribution will be held on Saturday, December 12th. Pickup will be at the Waupun Fire Department. Further details regarding pickup will be sent to parents via postcard closer to the distribution date.
Holidays are more fun when we establish traditions. Let this be one of your holiday traditions in our community. Helping someone who needs us is truly a gift in itself.
Thank you for your support!!
