Limited Services Available for Jan 30th

Waupun, Wis. – The City of Waupun will operate with limited services on Wednesday, 1/30/19, due to the extreme wind chill that is predicted for the area. The Waupun Public Library will close on Tuesday, 1/29/19, at 4:30 p.m. and will remain closed on Wednesday, 1/30/19. The Waupun Senior Center and meal services will be closed on Wednesday, 1/30/19. Garbage collection for 1/30/19 has been suspended.
The City will communicate any changes to this schedule. The Waupun City Hall, Public Safety Building and the Public Works garage along with Waupun Public Utilities will operate normal business hours on Wednesday, 1/30/19.
Residents needing warming services are instructed to call 211 or go to the Public Safety Building, located at 16 E Main Street, Waupun. Additionally, public transit/taxi will be closed on Tuesday evening, 1/29/19, through noon Thursday, 1/31/19, for all routine business. A limited number of drivers will be on call and will attempt to help stranded or endangered residents.
A wind chill advisory begins Tuesday, 1/29/19 at 6 p.m. and continues through noon on Thursday, 1/31/19. The National Weather Service in Sullivan indicates a surge of historically cold air will settle over southern Wisconsin tonight and linger across the area into Thursday.
Wind Chills as cold as 45 to 55 degrees below zero are predicted. Residents are advised to take the cold seriously. Frostbite can occur in as little as 5 minutes. Please use precaution and check on your pets and your neighbors.
