Public Education
The Waupun School District is consists of the Waupun Junior/Senior High School (grades 7-12), Rock River Intermediate School (grades 2-6), and Meadow View Primary School (grades 4K-1) . The district has active parent/teacher organizations or parent advisory committees at each school. The district is progressive with a strategic plan in place that is focusing the district on a path of continuous improvement. The mission of the school district is as follows:
The School District of Waupun in partnership with its students, families, and communities will challenge its students to ensure their mastery of the skills necessary to become life-long learners, fully capable of competing in and contributing to a dynamic global society, by setting high expectations for the whole learner and providing the necessary resources for education while recognizing each individual's uniqueness in a healthy, joyful, and caring environment.
The district is governed by a seven-person Board of Education that meets monthly on the third Monday of the month at 7:00 p.m. District residents are encouraged to attend and become involved in a wealth of activities. The district has over 275 employees and has an annual budget in access of 17.2 million dollars with a mill rate of approximately 17 mills/per thousand of equalized valuation. The District has approximately 2,600 students attending public schools including a high school, middle school, and five elementary schools.
The district is student-centered with many positive school climate efforts to support student social and personal growth. Academically, the curriculum is challenging with many students going on for further education. Some of the programs that make the district special are: comprehensive programs for exceptional educational needs, gifted and talented education, access to current computer technology community education, early childhood education, before school day care, breakfast program, career passport counseling and education for employment mentorships.
